Snowy Local
A home base for community groups to come together and organize: member directory, mailing lists, a shared calendar, event registration and payments. Proven in production at twbfriends.ca, now being generalized for churches and other community organizations.
Small community groups — especially local churches — organize through a patchwork of personal email accounts, shared spreadsheets, paper sign-up sheets and cash at the door. Nothing stays in sync, the member list and the calendar live in someone's head, and whoever built the spreadsheet becomes the one person the whole group depends on.
Snowy Local gives a community group one shared place to communicate and organize: a member directory, mailing lists to reach its people, a calendar everyone can see, and registration for events, including collecting payment when an event costs money. It began as a bespoke build for one group and has run in production there since; the pilot is about making it a neutral, configurable product that any community organization can adopt.
- › Shared member directory any volunteer can use, not just whoever built the spreadsheet
- › Mailing lists built in, no separate email tool to maintain
- › Shared calendar so everyone in the group sees what's coming up
- › Event registration with sign-up tracking, no paper sign-up sheet
- › Collect payment for paid events as part of registration
- › Production-grade today: the original build runs live at twbfriends.ca and has been refined through real day-to-day use
- › In progress: generalizing the theming, language and setup so it fits churches and other community groups, not just the original venue
