"How you show up on the mat is how you show up in life."

I practice yoga every day, and I'm working my way back to teaching, something I used to do and haven't done in a while. I'm also working toward offering Ayurvedic consultations. I'm not taking students or clients yet. This page is where I'm putting down what I believe while I get there.

01 / Yoga

Practice on the mat is exactly that: practice. It's rehearsal for the moments in life that are hard, the ones where you can't choose the conditions. How you meet a difficult posture, how you breathe when you want to quit, how you notice and adjust rather than force, is how you'll meet everything else.

It's also why the practice has to be yours. A teacher can offer shapes and cues, but only you are inside your body. A teacher I once studied with put it better than I can:

"I don't have to live in your body, you do. So if a posture or practice feels wrong, don't do it."

02 / Ayurveda

I think of Ayurveda as the study of yourself. Its tools (the doshas, the seasons, the rhythm of a day) are a way of paying closer attention, not a set of rules handed down to you. You are your own best barometer for what healthy is and what feeling good is. The work is learning to read it.

That's the spirit I want to bring to consultations: helping someone get better at noticing, not telling them what they feel.

It's a slightly odd thing to find on a software studio's site. It's here because the way I work is shaped by the way I practice.
